7xxx and 2xxx high-strength and tough aluminum alloys have the largest usage, variety and specifications among all aviation aluminum alloys, and are the most representative aviation aluminum alloys, and are the most representative aircraft aluminum alloys. Among them, there are the following commonly used alloys, including 7075-t7651, 7055, 7050, 2024, 2524,etc.

7075 aluminum plate is one of the strong alloys commercially available. 7075 aluminum plate mainly contains zinc element. It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, heat-treatable and super hard. Aluminum 7075 t7351 is one of its common tempers.

7075 aluminum plates are stress-relieved and will not deform or warp after processing. 7075 aluminum plates are mainly used to manufacture aircraft structures and other high-stress structural parts that require high strength and strong corrosion resistance, such as aircraft upper and lower wing panels.

In the 1960s, the United States improved the 7075 aluminum alloy and developed the 7050 alloy, which is stronger, tougher and more resistant to stress corrosion. It was mainly used in the pressure-resistant structural parts of the F-18, and later developed the 7150 alloy.

In the 1980s, 7055 alloy was developed based on 7150. Its strength is about 10% higher than 7150 and has higher overall performance. It is used for the upper wing skin and wing stringers of Boeing 777 passenger aircraft.

2024 aluminum alloy is a high-strength hard aluminum containing elements such as copper, magnesium, and manganese. It can be strengthened by heat treatment and has excellent comprehensive properties and high-temperature creep resistance. 2024 t3 and 2024 t4 are its main tempers.

2024 aluminum alloy is widely used in aerospace, automobiles, machinery and other fields, and is mainly used to manufacture aircraft structural parts, engine nacelles, wheels, bolts, nuts and other parts.

2524 alloy was born in 1995 and registered with the American Aluminum Association in the same year, while 2024 alloy was born in 1934. 2524 alloy is the sixth generation of the 2024 alloy family. Their main components (Cu, Mg, Mn) are roughly equal in content.

The fracture toughness and fatigue resistance of 2524-T3 clad aluminum plate are more than 30% higher than that of 2024-T3 clad aluminum plate. It is considered to be the most ideal aircraft skin material at present.

2014 alloy is an Al-Cu-Mg-Si high-strength forged aluminum alloy that can be strengthened by heat treatment. The chemical composition of this alloy is similar to that of 2A14 aluminum alloy. It has high strength and good hot working properties and is easy to forge. All performances are basically equivalent to 2A14.
